I was watching part of Celebrity Apprentice this weekend. It was the first episode, and in the boardroom Trump asked the women who he should fire, and nobody would say names, saying that everyone did a good job. After getting tired of them not picking someone to be fired who might hinder them in the future, Donald Trump had an interesting nugget of wisdom:
All of the women did an acceptable job. But they still didn't win the project. So somebody HAD to go, even though the decision was hard.
Sometimes there are roadblocks in my life, and it isn't something that is necessarily a sin or something bad. But just like in the boardroom, I need to "fire" things in my life to make way for greater things.
The verse in the bible that came to my mind during this was 1 Corinthians 10:23
"Everything is permissible"—but not everything is beneficial. "Everything is permissible"—but not everything is constructive.
What the question comes down to is: Are the "good" things in your life getting in the way of the "great" things that God has planned for you?
