Here is my basset hound / terrier mix, FDR. I usually say she is white with black spots, but when we are outside in the snow, you can tell her fur is definitely NOT white.

It is always a good reminder of who I compare myself to. I think, "I might do some things wrong, but I'm still a good person! I'm not a murderer or anything." But that's not who we are supposed to compare ourselves to.

According to 2 Corinthians 5:21:

"For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that
we could be made right with God through Christ. "

So, Jesus didn't sin, but came to save YOU from your sin. And, he wants to make you RIGHT with God. If this has been a tough year, and nothing has gone right for you, making a decision to get RIGHT with God can change your life!

To find out more about getting right with God, go to http://needhim.org/

You never know when a seemingly normal day can end up like this:

You may not be on a game show today, but how many times do I give up on a day being "good" before it even starts? It's all in the attitude, my friends! :)

This revelation came to me a few days ago... That there are two kinds of music listeners in the world. "Single" listeners and "Album" listeners

I have to say that I am an "Album" guy. I like listening to a CD in its entirety because I know that is the way the artist intends it. They have placed each song in a particular order for a reason, and I enjoy being along for the ride as the album progresses. Consider it like a movie almost. You would rarely just watch one scene.... you've gotta take it all in.

My wife, however, is the opposite. She loves a hodge-podge of songs from all kinds of artists and just puts her zune on shuffle and has no problem. Me on the other hand, when I try to use "shuffle", I end up skipping past every song because I don't feel in the mood for it. It's a surprise I can handle listening to the radio, you may wonder, but once again radio is like an experience, adeptly programmed (hopefully!) to ebb and flow and you never really know what song may be next.

Do you enjoy a full album like a good movie, or do you let your iPod shuffle when you listen?

We have a caller that rings in with a request every tuesday night, and mysteriously will not give us his name! So we call him "Tuesday Night." I was playing with the Auto-tune app on our iPod touch and decided to make a song for him on the spot:

(if you can't see the player above, click here to listen)

J-izzle wanted to try it out too, considering she is a great singer, it should sound awesome with her, right? Right??!?? Here's the Christmas classic, O Holy Night, autotuned:

(if you can't see the player above, click here to listen)

Compare that to my even-more-awful-than-usual singing on the same song:

(if you can't see the player above, click here to listen)

There will be an apology tonight for J-izzle about this. It may be in auto-tuned song form.

Hooray for Educational video games! Never since Bible Adventures for the NES have I been so excited for a game that will teach me things, too.

According to BBC News,

Players at Be A Martian can earn points in one game by helping Nasa examine and organize the images into a more complete map of the planet.

Another game gets users to count impact craters to help scientists understand better the relative age of rocks on Mars' surface.

Well, now you can say you've been to Mars!

This is something I never thought I'd see, but the popularity of the lolcats cannot be denied. Go here for a little background of how lolcats started.

Here is original one that started it all:

Now it has become an internet language, which has been used to make the newest translation of the bible. For example, here is John 3:16 in lolcat:

So liek teh Ceiling Kitteh lieks teh ppl lots and he sez 'Oh hai I givez u me only kitteh and ifs u beleeves him u wont evr diez no moar, kthxbai!'

What do you think? Is it a funny way to reach people that might not otherwise care about the bible? Or is it offensive that someone would do this?

See More at The LOLCat Bible Translation Project, and you can preorder the print version at amazon.com right now.

I almost feel like I was on an awesome field trip and need to do a report about what happened. So, here goes:

We got up early on saturday, and hopped on an extremely small plane.

Got into Minnesota and went to one of the most famous landmarks, The Mall of America:

There we played a game of "find the human"

And took a ride on a rollercoaster:

We hung out with friends and family... Then on Monday we went to the Vikings game!

Once we got inside, we had to sit down and take a breather, we were almost to the top of the stadium. Check out our view:

I put my camera up to the binoculars to get a shot of Brett Favre warming up:

Scott Stapp of Creed sang the national anthem:

And I don't really have any pictures of the game because I was too busy screaming my lungs out as the Vikings marched to victory! I do want to emphasize how high up we are, check out these two pictures:

You can see that our row ends at the scoreboard. See this shot of Brett Favre being interviewed after the game and you can see where we were sitting:

But it was well worth it, as you can see by how happy we are here:

And here are the highlights from the game:

It was a once in a lifetime experience, and my ears are still ringing from how loud the game was! Go Vikings!

If you have a few minutes, I have three videos for you to watch and a thought that ties them all together about my relationship with Jesus Christ.

First, watch this video about a High School Football game where the last play of the game went horribly wrong. (start at 1:30 to see one of the craziest plays I have ever seen in football.)

Now, watch this classic commercial:

These got me thinking about a song we are playing on The House- Barlowgirl “Beautiful Ending”

Barlowgirl explains the meaning of the song:

You see great people in history that have followed God passionately and have dedicated their entire life to Him. When you get to the end of their lives and you see the end of their story and somehow it’s like they lost their first love,” says Lauren. “They lost the passion with God and it was so sad to see that they just fall away from loving Him. We said ‘God, we never want to lose you. We never want to lose our first love. We would rather not have this ministry. Could we lose seeing you in the midst of serving you all the time?’ We never want that to happen. That’s what that song came out of.

I hope this encourages and challenges you wherever you are in your walk with Christ.  Don’t get to the last play of the football game and throw the ball down when the game is not over yet, don’t bonk at the finish line, don’t lose your first love!

May we all have a beautiful beginning, middle, and ending!

-Andy

So I see this billboard when I'm driving around town:

and it gets me thinking:

  1. Why are my tax dollars paying to remind myself that the census is coming?
  2. I don't have a family farm, maybe I should start one. Riding horses is fun.
  3. Why are they using ALL CAPS in parts of the billboard?

Apparently the ad people don't know this but using CAPS IS CONSIDERED SHOUTING! So I put together a radio ad of what it would sound like:

hope-1There is bad news wherever you go.  On TV, the newspaper, internet, even on some radio stations.  The thing that I don’t think gets enough attention is that God is ALWAYS doing great things, sometimes we just don’t take time to recognize that!

I found a website that illustrates the sometimes very simple things in life that give us hope.

http://www.givesmehope.com/

One cool story from the site:

About a year before my dog died, he started to go blind. When my cat realized this, she began helping him find his way by rubbing against his legs, running ahead of him, and meowing loudly so he could follow the sound of her voice. The love pets have not just for people but for each other GMH.

Where does your hope come from?  Mine comes from this:

Hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love. (Romans 5:5)

I say part two because years ago I met him and said the one thing you should never say to an artist (unless you are a relative or work for them)

"Hey, John, Remember me?"

that was followed by his best attempt to guess, which he failed at. Then there was an awkward pause, and I practically ran away.

I see him at his merch table this weekend at Lifelight and I think, "hey I can get a picture with him, and finish this saga!"

so I get my brother to grab my phone and I go up to john reuben. I shake his hand and thank him for being awesome. Then I ask for a picture. I can't describe how awkward it felt, like he remembered that years ago I asked if he remembered me.

Let me know if you feel the awkwardness in the picture below.

Let this go to show you that even though I get to interview artists all the time, I still get freaked out when I actually have to talk to them!
