I would always read about police auctions in the paper, then forget to actually show up the date they were held, then you have to have the cash on hand, etc, etc. Luckily the internets have changed everything! They just put them online e-bay style.

And if you've ever wanted an old cop car, you are in luck:

Shaun, my office mate, found some very old issues of CCM, or as it was called then "Contemporary Christian Magazine" , and I want to show pictures from these archives from time to time... because if we do not learn from the past, we are doomed to repeat it.

This is from the May 1995 issue:

When Brent McCoy is gone, I take over for him on the morning show. Janelle and I have often wondered what Brent does when he takes days off. We used to think he was out fighting crime, but then we found the truth:

here is brent mccoy the clown

...or is he a Project Manager at Knowledge Computing Corp?

..or is Brent McCoy Lamar Advertising's EVP?

I have a hard time plunking down ten bucks for a CD of bands I have not heard of, or even sometimes of bands I LOVE, but not quite sure what their new music sounds like. Here are three places to pretty much listen to any song or CD known to man!

  1. Jesus Freak Hideout Listening Party - They usually have a good selection of new christian CD's, so if you're not quite sure what you want to listen to, this is a good place to start
  2. FREE Napster - this is an awesome place that has most anything you are looking for, and you can stream music for free, as much as you want! Downsides are a lower audio quality and some songs only have 30 second clips... if you run into those problems, there is one last place to go:
  3. Rhapsody - High quality music that always have full songs... but you only get 25 free listens a month!
And of course there is a fourth which I highly recommend:

LISTEN TO THE HOUSE FM ALL THE TIME! WOOO!

youso, out.

It's the guys from Leeland and Rainn Wilson (Dwight from the office) in the Baltimore airport. This is how I imagine this conversation taking place:

Leeland dudes : Hey! Dwight!
(Rainn keeps walking because he has his ipod on and can't hear)
Leeland dudes : Dwight from the office! Hey!
Rainn : Uh, hey guys, what's up?
Leeland dudes : Can we get a picture with you?
Rainn : Sure.
(picture taken)
Leeland dudes : Awesome! Well, see ya later!
Rainn : Ok, bye. (puts headphones in again.)

So I couldn't think of a funny conversation, at least one that I could transcribe. I was thinking about some bit about the Leeland guys asking Rainn if he had ever heard of their band, but I couldn't make it funny.

Interesting thought below:
Maybe Rainn was listening to Leeland at that moment? Would that make the Baltimore airport turn into a black hole, one which may begin to get larger and soon consume okla

Google is monitoring our searches for flu-related terms, thinking that they can predict where outbreaks will occur. So far, so good for us:

go HERE to check out personalized information for your state.

I am planning on trying to mess with their results by making up diseases. Some ideas:

  • Muffin hands (pretty self explanatory)
  • Benjamin Button syndrome (where people age in reverse)
  • Attention Surplus Disorder (opposite of ADD, you pay too much attention)
  • Carformerphobia (the fear of getting into your car because it may crush you when it transforms into its alter-ego)
  • Brent McCoyitis (when you can't stop saying "Brent Mccoy here with you on your Monday (or whatever day it is))

Gimme the free stuff!

...and since I just saved you the equivalent of $2.97, care to pitch that in the "Andy's ultimate Christmas gift" fund?

It is time for another entry in this series as I found myself going down a trail of odd websites... let's figure out how I started looking for the film style of "independence day", to this:

STEP 1:

I was searching for the film style of independence day, after talking to my wife wanting to do a photo series of a post-apocalyptic Ponca City. I got this inspiration after riding my bike yesterday past the old flour mill and thinking "this is what the post-apocalyptic scenes would look like"

So I talked to my wife and she said that the film style like "I am Legend" and "independence day" which brought me to google.

STEP 2:

I googled "post apocalyptic filter"

that brought me to this website, about how to make your videos look more like film:

Shoot Video to Look Like Film

good thing to keep in mind for my project, but I had to go a little farther down the google hole to find this:

Post-apocalyptic playground

The comment on that picture led me to google for "infrared filter" which brought me to :

How to shoot IR

where I found out that some cameras can see IR transmissions, like this example:

That helped, but the pictures there still didn't look post-apocalyptic. They looked more like black and white.

Then I found this site which talks about false-color infrared:

False Color Infrared Photography

Step 3:

By this point I just gave up and went to this blog search of "post apocalypse"

and found that picture above, along with some tips on how to survive post apocalypse, including:
  1. Get a Dog
  2. Stay Solo (not sure if I agree with this one)
  3. Learn to make a fire
  4. Stay away from dating websites like "zombie harmony"
  5. Get a Gun
  6. Learn to make biodiesel
Wow, what a waste of time, right? unless.... I need to know what to have in a post-apocalyptic emergency! Then I'll be the envy of all my... wait I won't have friends, I will the the only person alive. Other than my dog and my gun of course

This is legitimate, I have done this for a year or so. It's called Secret Shopping, and you can get paid to eat, or just shop sometimes. You do have to fill out an evaluation, and it does take some attention to detail. But here is a website to find out more about being a "secret shopper"

The one big thing to remember is you should never pay to join a mystery shopping company! That is the sign of a scam!
